Payments
How you pay on Chefose, and the terms that apply to every transaction.
The short version
- We accept payments through Razorpay — cards, UPI, net banking and wallets — and through your Chefose Wallet.
- Card, UPI and bank details are entered on Razorpay’s PCI-DSS compliant checkout. Chefose never sees or stores your full card number.
- Chef bookings are paid in full to confirm them; event bookings are paid as an advance and then a final payment.
- Every amount is quoted up front. If a payment fails but money is debited, it is reversed automatically — see Failed, pending or double payments.
This summary is for convenience only. The numbered terms below are what apply.

These payment terms are part of our Terms & Conditionsand apply whenever you pay for a booking, top up your Chefose Wallet, or receive a refund. Payment processing is provided by Razorpay Software Private Limited (“Razorpay”) and is also subject to Razorpay’s own terms.
1. How you pay
At checkout you are taken to the Razorpay Standard Checkout, where you can pay by credit or debit card, UPI, net banking or a supported wallet. You may also apply your Chefose Wallet balance to part or all of the amount and pay only the remainder through Razorpay.
Card verification (OTP / 3-D Secure) is handled by your bank through Razorpay. A booking is only confirmed once payment has been authorised and verified — closing the checkout window or losing connection before that leaves the booking unpaid.
2. Chefose Wallet
- You can add money to your Chefose Wallet using any Razorpay method. Top-ups are non-transferable and cannot be withdrawn as cash.
- Wallet balance can be used towards any booking. Where a booking costs more than your balance, the difference is collected through Razorpay in the same checkout.
- Eligible refunds and cancellation credits are returned to your Chefose Wallet unless we tell you otherwise, so they are available immediately for your next booking.
- Wallet balance has no expiry while your account is active. We may suspend or adjust a balance where we detect fraud, abuse or an error.
3. When we take payment
- Chef bookings (hourly / monthly).The full amount is paid at the time of booking. The chef’s slot is held only once payment is confirmed.
- Event bookings. After our team shares a quotation, you pay an advance to confirm the event. The final payment becomes due as stated on your booking (typically close to the event date). Both legs can be part-paid from your wallet.
- Wallet top-ups. Charged immediately when you add money.
An unpaid or part-paid booking is not confirmed, and we may release the date, time or quotation if payment is not completed.
4. Pricing & authorisation
Every charge is calculated by Chefose from the chef’s published rate card and the details of your booking — base service, guests, assistants, equipment, travel, ingredients, taxes and any discount or coupon. The amount shown before you confirm is the amount you pay.
By completing a payment you authorise Chefose, through Razorpay, to charge the selected payment method for that amount. You confirm that you are entitled to use the payment method and that the details you provide are accurate.
5. Payment security
Payments are processed over an encrypted connection through Razorpay, a PCI-DSS compliant payment aggregator authorised by the Reserve Bank of India. Your card, UPI and bank credentials are entered directly on the Razorpay checkout and are never stored on Chefose’s servers. Chefose retains only what it needs to recognise and support a transaction — the amount, method type, a masked reference and the payment status. See our Privacy Policy for how that information is handled.
6. Failed, pending or double payments
- Payment failed, money debited.If your bank debits an amount for a payment that did not succeed, it is auto-reversed by your bank, usually within 5–7 business days. No action is needed from you.
- Payment pending.Some methods take a few minutes to confirm. The booking updates automatically once Razorpay confirms the payment; you don’t need to pay again.
- Charged twice. If you are charged more than once for the same booking, contact us with both reference numbers and we will refund the duplicate.
If a debited amount is not reversed within 7 business days, reach out through Payment support with your booking number and bank reference.
7. Refunds & cancellations
Whether a booking can be cancelled, and how much is refundable, is set out in our Cancellations & Refunds policy. Where a refund is due:
- it is issued to your Chefose Wallet by default, or to the original payment method where required;
- the amount paid from your wallet is always returned to your wallet;
- refunds to a card, UPI or bank account are processed by Razorpay and typically reach you within 5–7 business days of approval, depending on your bank;
- any non-refundable advance or platform fee stated at booking is retained as described in the cancellation policy.
8. Chargebacks & disputes
If something looks wrong with a charge, please contact us first — most issues are resolved faster directly than through a bank dispute. Raising a chargeback for a booking you received, or one that was validly cancelled under the refund policy, may lead to that amount being recovered and your account being restricted while the dispute is investigated. We will share booking and payment records with Razorpay and your bank as needed to resolve a dispute.
9. Currency, taxes & receipts
- All payments are in Indian Rupees (INR). Any conversion by your bank or card network is outside our control.
- Prices include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise on the booking.
- A payment confirmation is available for every successful transaction from your bookings and your wallet history. For a GST invoice, contact Payment support with your booking number.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these payment terms from time to time. Material changes take effect when we update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Completing a payment after an update means you accept the revised terms.
